Welcome to Change Your Lead, specializing in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning (EAP/EAL). The mission at Change Your Lead is to offer skill building and life improving activities where individuals partner with horses to help make positive changes in their lives.
Unlike many horse based therapeutic programs, the focus at Change Your Lead is not on riding skills, but on what we can learn about ourselves through our interactions with horses. EAP & EAL focus on providing individualized activities for participants and consider what happens in the arena as a microscopic representation of what may be happening in their daily lives. Our clients are provided with activities based on their individualized goals and encouraged to utilize the information that they gather in the arena to draw parallels and make life changes.
Sessions at Change Your Lead are based on the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) model. Thus, each session is conducted by a licensed clinical psychologist, an equine specialist and, of course, equine staff. All staff are trained and certified for this work through the EAGALA. Equine staff are all screened for participation in this work. Our equine staff come from a variety of backgrounds and have different characteristics that increase our ability to find a match to work with each participant on his/her goals.
Please contact Dr. Sherman at (650) 248-4072 or changeyourlead@gmail.com to see if EAP or EAL is right for you. We’ll see you outside!
