Adjunct Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) Sessions
As a therapist, we know you have the best interests of your clients in mind. We understand there are times when it is beneficial to shake things up in sessions or times when clients just might feel "stuck". We also know how powerful an EAP intervention can be. We are currently offering adjunct EAP sessions to help therapists provide additional interventions for their clients. These sessions can be individual or group sessions.
Here's how it works: you will always remain the primary therapist. You will speak to Dr. Sherman regarding relevant information and your current treatment goals. We will then set up an equine activity related to the treatment goals and your client(s) will participate in this experiential, hands on process that draws on parallels to the issues they are addressing in therapy. Therapists are, of course, welcome to participate in the session as well. At the end of sessions, we will provide observations & information recommendations to take back to your regular sessions for discussion and further follow-up.
- Interactions during equine activities are a snapshot of how people interact, communicate, interpret information.
- Horses provide feedback to client for how he/she interacts with others/environment
- Facilitators ask neutral and open-ended questions about the interactions
- Draw parallels to daily life
